Michael joined the independent bar in 2002 and has more than 20 years’ experience in commercial litigation and arbitration including two years as an advocate with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s international arbitration group in Paris. His main practice areas are energy and resources, infrastructure, corporations, insolvency and insurance. He regularly appears as counsel in the superior courts and is instructed by international, national and local firms on a wide range of commercial matters.

Michael completed graduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Western Australia. He has the degrees: LLM (Dist.), LLB and BEc.

Michael is an honorary fellow of the UWA Law School where he co-teaches International Commercial Arbitration. He was a director of the Fremantle Port Authority from 2010 to 2018.
