PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE:

Jenny Thornton was previously a Partner in the commercial litigation departments of Parker & Parker, Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) and Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens Linklaters). In September 2012 Jenny established Clyde & Co's office in Perth and was the Managing Partner there before joining Quayside Chambers in 2017.

Jenny has extensive experience representing parties in large and high profile litigation in the District, Supreme, Federal and High Courts. She also represents parties in arbitration proceedings and mediations.

Jenny has acted for a vast range of professionals in defending claims of professional negligence.

She has also defended Directors and Officers involved in commercial litigation, shareholders’ class actions, quasi-judicial inquiries, prosecutions for breaches of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and allegations of wrongful dismissal, misleading and deceptive conduct, and insider trading.

Jenny has advised both Insurers and Insureds on property damage and business interruption claims and represented parties in those matters in the Supreme and Federal Courts.

In addition, Jenny has acted in regulatory and coronial investigations arising out of major incidents where fatalities have occurred, primarily in relation to resources and infrastructure projects.

Jenny has been recognised as a leading lawyer in Doyle's WA Professional Indemnity and Public Liability rankings and Australia's Best Lawyers (since 2011). She has also been named as a leading insurance lawyer in Australia in Chambers Asia Pacific and Legal 500 Asia Pacific (both since 2015).

In 2017 she was named by Best Lawyers as Insurance Lawyer of the Year for Western Australia and was recognised by Doyle's Guide as a Leading Insurance Law Barrister Rankings - Western Australia, 2017.

She was also awarded the Chief Justice's prize for Best Performed Reader at the 2017 WABA Bar Readers Course.
